Hardware Engineer, System Design

About the role

Normal Computing is seeking a Hardware System Design Engineer to lead the architecture of AI compute hardware from concept through production. You will shape board, chassis, interconnect, and rack‑scale designs, ensuring they meet performance and workload requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Define system requirements, evaluate architectural options, and drive technical decisions across the hardware platform.
• Lead design reviews, integration, validation, and qualification of boards, chassis, and rack‑scale systems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external partners to translate workload needs into hardware specifications.
• Assess partner and vendor designs, identify gaps and schedule risks, and manage system‑level trade‑offs.
• Own the bring‑up, system integration, and deployment strategy for high‑performance AI compute systems.

Required profile

• Significant experience architecting complex compute hardware systems, from server‑level to rack‑scale platforms.
• Proven track record taking hardware systems from early requirements through specification, integration, validation, and production deployment.
• Experience working with ODMs, suppliers, and hardware partners, including design reviews and issue resolution.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
