Groundskeeper I

About the role

The University of Arkansas is seeking a Groundskeeper I to maintain the appearance and safety of campus outdoor spaces. This entry‑level position supports daily landscaping, lawn care, and general grounds upkeep across the Fayetteville campus.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine mowing, trimming, and edging of lawns, sidewalks, and athletic fields.
• Maintain flower beds, shrubs, and trees through planting, pruning, and fertilizing.
• Operate and service groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and snow removal tools.
• Collect and dispose of litter and debris, ensuring clean and safe pathways.
• Assist with seasonal projects, including irrigation system checks and snow removal.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to campus safety.

Required skills

• Basic operation of landscaping equipment (e.g., push mower, power trimmer).
• Knowledge of safe equipment handling and maintenance.
