Ground Service Equipment Technician – LGA

About the role

Swissport is seeking a Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Technician at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to ensure all ramp equipment is safe, reliable and maintained in accordance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and drive motorized and non‑motorized GSE across the ramp.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and document all work.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures, removing faulty units from service until repaired.
• Provide emergency response for equipment incidents and support de‑icing operations.
• Maintain compliance with airport, municipal, state, federal and Swissport safety and security standards.
• Keep the GSE shop clean, fuel equipment safely and liaise with ramp management and customers.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence for air‑side and non‑air‑side operations.
• Trade‑school training or mechanical background preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and to travel as needed.

Required skills

• Operation of various GSE equipment.
• Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Basic hydraulic system knowledge.
• Airport de‑icing procedures.
• Adherence to safety guidelines (WCB, EPA, WHMIS).
