Graphic Design Intern - Summer 2027

About the role

Hy-Vee, Inc., a Midwest grocery retailer, is looking for a graphic design intern for its corporate office in Grimes, Iowa. The position suits a college student majoring in graphic design who wants creative experience in a fast-paced marketing department. It is a non-exempt, summer internship.

Key responsibilities

• Create custom print marketing materials such as posters, print ads and flyers for Hy-Vee stores, the corporate office and subsidiaries.
• Create custom digital content including digital ads, emails, web banners and social posts that carry Hy-Vee's brand messaging.
• Assist marketing staff with special projects and day-to-day activities of a busy marketing department.
• Assist in data and asset management.
• Communicate with managers and leads about project status.

Required profile

• College student majoring in Graphic Design, junior or senior status.
• Must submit a digital portfolio for consideration.
• Ability to see detail at near range, with or without correction; able to lift or carry up to 10 pounds occasionally and to stand or walk occasionally.
• Physical ability to stoop, kneel, reach, handle, grasp, feel, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office products.
• Knowledge of After Effects and/or Figma is a plus.
• Photography, illustration and/or video shooting or editing skills are a plus.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
