Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Intern

About the role

HCSC offers a ten-week paid Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) internship in Chicago, IL. The intern works closely with cross-functional business and technical teams, contributing to projects, analyzing information and helping develop solutions that meet organizational needs. The internship includes a formal orientation, hands-on projects, weekly networking with company leaders, professional development workshops and volunteer activities.

Key responsibilities

• Own parts of project work and deliverables with guidance from an assigned mentor and manager.
• Research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations that inform real business decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support initiatives that improve business outcomes and the member and client experience.
• Develop and deliver a final internship presentation to department leadership covering the project, results and recommendations.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity and applicable compliance policies.

Required profile

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree; rising senior in computer science, information technology, management information systems or technology management (other majors may be considered).
• Graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Available for the full 10 weeks; unrestricted work authorization in the United States; sponsorship not available.

Required skills

• Familiarity with foundational information security concepts.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills.
• Verbal and written communication and practical PC skills, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint and email.

What we offer

• Base pay of $19.13 - $34.17, varying with skills, experience and location.
• The role aligns with an annual incentive bonus plan subject to its terms and conditions.
• Flex employees are expected to be in the office at least three days a week.
