Google Apigee Architect – Remote Contract

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Google Apigee Architect to lead API strategy, architecture, and governance for a major enterprise client. This fully remote contract role involves close collaboration with client stakeholders and delivery teams to design and modernize the API landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement API management solutions on Google Apigee (X, Hybrid, or Edge).
• Define API standards, governance frameworks, and enterprise best practices.
• Develop API proxies, shared flows, and custom policies for traffic management, security, mediation, and caching.
• Implement API security mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, API key validation, mTLS, and threat protection.
• Migrate legacy integrations to Apigee and modernize the API portfolio.
• Build CI/CD pipelines for API deployments using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Maven, Terraform/Apigee CLI.
• Establish monitoring, analytics, and alerting with Apigee Analytics and Google Cloud Monitoring.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to integration development teams.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in API management, integration architecture, or related fields.
• Proven ability to lead enterprise‑scale API initiatives and work directly with senior stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of RESTful design, security protocols, and cloud‑native deployment patterns.
