General Worker – UN Mission

About the role

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations is seeking a General Worker to support daily operations at its New York office. This position offers the opportunity to work in a diplomatic environment, assisting staff and visitors while ensuring the mission runs smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general administrative support, including filing, data entry, and handling correspondence.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of meetings, conferences, and official events.
• Maintain office premises, ensuring cleanliness, security, and proper functioning of equipment.
• Support logistical needs such as courier services, inventory management, and basic procurement.
• Interact courteously with visitors, diplomats, and external partners.

Required profile

• Minimum secondary education or equivalent.
• Ability to work in a multicultural and fast‑paced environment.
• Good communication skills in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

Required skills

• Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Ability to operate standard office equipment (printer, copier, scanner).
