General Trades Technician Level 3

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a General Trades Tech 3 to support facility operations, maintenance, and construction projects in Albany, Dougherty County. This position involves supervising staff, coordinating contractor work, and ensuring safe, efficient facility management.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and guide subordinate staff and contractors in facility maintenance, renovation, and construction.
• Review plans, conduct on‑site inspections, and ensure work complies with guidelines.
• Manage projects, purchase orders, preventative maintenance, work orders, and parts inventory.
• Maintain a safe working environment and develop safety programs.
• Provide 24‑hour on‑call emergency support for facility breakdowns.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED.
• Three years of experience in building repairs and maintenance, or two years as a General Trades Tech 2 or equivalent.
• Leadership ability and strong time‑management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
