General Manager – K-12 Food Service

About the role

Lead a school district’s food service program as General Manager, overseeing daily operations, staff, and client relationships to ensure students receive nutritious meals. Combine strategic leadership with hands‑on service to drive participation and academic success.

Key responsibilities

• Manage salaried managers and hourly associates across multiple school sites.
• Direct all aspects of account management and client communication.
• Train and develop Assistant Managers for business expansion.
• Lead initiatives to increase student participation and support academic outcomes.
• Build and maintain relationships with district administrators and school boards.
• Hire, train, evaluate, and support all staff members.
• Oversee budget preparation, labor, food, and operational cost control.
• Ensure timely completion of inventory, production, and payroll reports.
• Maintain food safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
• Drive performance in sales, service, facility appearance, and cleanliness.
• Handle cash reconciliation and support daily service operations as needed.
• Implement marketing and promotional activities to grow the program.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years food‑service experience, including 2–3 years as a Food Service Director (K‑12 preferred).
• Proven leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.
• Ability to pass background check, fingerprinting, and MVR audit (driving required).
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and work in a moderate‑noise environment.
