General Maintenance Technician III - 1st Shift

About the role

Amentum is looking for a 1st shift General Maintenance Technician III for its facility maintenance team in Greenville, SC. The technician provides advanced expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on industrial and commercial facilities and utilities systems, including plumbing and mechanical equipment. Typical hours are Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with overtime, holidays and weekends possible.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in performing and responding to work orders for building equipment
• Inspect major equipment and operating systems and take corrective action when needed
• Plumb pipes of several types and sizes (PVC, copper, black, threaded)
• Maintain pumps, fans, cranes, heat exchangers, valves and similar systems to high quality standards
• Work in a team, sometimes with minimal supervision, ensuring customer service and a safe work environment
• Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and follow SOPs and work instructions
• Use a company-approved utility knife and wear PPE such as steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves and hard hats

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of mechanical maintenance and plumbing experience, with hands-on experience maintaining, repairing and operating mechanical building systems
• Experience with plumbing, steam and hot water boilers, air handling units, pumps, compressors, air dryers and exhaust systems
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a security access badge; U.S. citizenship required for credentials at this location; no sponsorship available
• Preferred: associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Technology or Industrial Mechanical, pipefitting experience, and a valid CCCDI license or ability to obtain one within a year

Physical requirements

• Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Climb ladders and stairs at least 10 times per shift, kneel, bend and stretch repetitively
• Walk extensively through the plant and interact professionally with clients under stress
