Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathologist – Open Rank

About the role

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Miami Health System is seeking open‑rank faculty members with subspecialty expertise in Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology. The position supports patient‑care services at University of Miami Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Sylvester Cancer Comprehensive Center and affiliated sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert diagnostic interpretation of GI and liver specimens.
• Perform and interpret intra‑operative frozen sections.
• Serve as an independent diagnostic authority influencing patient treatment plans.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and disease‑site conferences.
• Contribute to call coverage as assigned.
• Engage in departmental quality‑assurance activities and committee service.
• Support the academic mission through clinical and translational research in GI disease.

Required profile

• MD, DO, or equivalent degree.
• Board certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).
• Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Florida.
• Completed fellowship training in GI Pathology (required).
• Additional expertise in Surgical Pathology is welcome.
