Funeral Service Instructor (Full-Time)

About the role

Columbus Technical College is looking for a dedicated Funeral Service Instructor to join its Funeral Services Education program. The role involves delivering classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction, creating lesson plans, and evaluating student progress. The instructor will also support recruitment, retention and job placement efforts while ensuring a safe learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver instruction for classroom, lab and clinical settings.
• Develop program syllabi, goals, objectives and lesson plans.
• Evaluate student performance and maintain required documentation.
• Manage supplies, equipment and assist with budget requests.
• Ensure safety and security standards are met in all training areas.
• Collaborate with students, staff and other educators on instructional matters.
• Support accreditation requirements of the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE).
• Participate in recruitment, retention and job placement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Willingness to obtain a Master’s degree within five years of hire.
• Graduate of a funeral service education program accredited by ABFSE.
• Valid Georgia Funeral Director license.
• Ability to teach high‑school students and travel across multiple counties as needed.
