Full‑Time Veteran Affairs Specialist

About the role

Atlanta Technical College is seeking a Full‑Time Veteran Affairs Specialist to join its Academic and Student Affairs division. Reporting to the Director of Student Services, the specialist will support military‑affiliated students, manage intake processes, and serve as the primary advisor for Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation participants.

Key responsibilities

• Manage intake procedures for all military‑affiliated students and dependents seeking benefits or center services.
• Represent the Veterans Center at recruitment, job fairs, college fairs, and community outreach events.
• Plan, organize, and facilitate resource events and student activities, including the annual Veterans Day program.
• Support the Coordinator in delivering veteran‑focused programming and student support services.
• Develop and deliver New Student Orientation presentations tailored to military‑connected learners.
• Advise Chapter 31‑Vocational Rehabilitation students, process benefit certifications, and manage a dedicated caseload.
• Collaborate with the Office of Financial Aid to track and support service‑members using Service‑Cancelable Loans.
• Assist with managing TA platforms and Department of Defense workflows to streamline funding requests.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree (or higher) required.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in student services, veteran affairs, or related fields.
• Knowledge of student financial aid processes, federal and state regulations, and Chapter 31‑Vocational Rehabilitation.
• Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
