Full‑Time Surgery Scheduler (Level 2)

About the role

The Department of Interventional Radiology at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Surgery Scheduler 2 to support physicians on its medical campus. The role coordinates patient communications, schedules clinical and surgical services, and ensures seamless pre‑ and post‑operative care.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain pre‑authorizations for procedures as required by insurers.
• Produce and distribute surgical and procedural schedules to physicians and relevant departments.
• Collaborate with patients, families, staff, and providers to schedule surgeries, pre‑op exams, and testing.
• Coordinate special cases with hospitals and external vendors.
• Identify and suggest improvements to streamline the scheduling process.
• Maintain up‑to‑date electronic scheduling tools and resolve system issues promptly.
• Ensure complete documentation to support accurate billing.
• Adhere to university policies and safeguard assets.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Minimum three years of experience in surgical or medical scheduling.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication, with discretion handling confidential information.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using Epic electronic health record system.
• Familiarity with scheduling software and tools.
