Full‑Time Registered Respiratory Therapist II

About the role

The University of Miami Hospital is seeking a Full‑Time Registered Respiratory Therapist II to join a multidisciplinary team delivering cardiopulmonary care. You will perform diagnostic testing, operate advanced respiratory equipment, and support research initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct electrocardiograms, stress tests, and lung capacity assessments.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and guide patients through breathing exercises.
• Set up and operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas delivery systems, environmental control units, and aerosol generators.
• Read physician orders, measure arterial blood gases, and evaluate patient conditions.
• Determine therapy type, duration, precautions, and medication dosages.
• Educate patients and families on disease management and equipment use.
• Monitor vital signs and laboratory values, reporting adverse reactions to physicians.
• Maintain accurate patient charts and ensure equipment safety through regular inspection and cleaning.
• Mentor students, technicians, and assistants while adhering to university policies.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited two‑year Respiratory Therapy program.
• Current, valid Florida Respiratory Therapist license.
• Current BLS/CPR, PALS, and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum three years of relevant clinical experience.
