Full‑Time Chaplain

About the role

The University of Miami Health System seeks a compassionate full‑time Chaplain to provide spiritual guidance and support to patients, families, and staff during illness, injury, and emergencies. The role includes leading religious services, prayer, and coordinating clergy visits.

Key responsibilities

• Offer confidential, non‑judgmental listening, counseling, and ethical decision‑making support.
• Provide crisis, disaster, and bereavement interventions for patients, families, and staff.
• Assess and meet the religious and spiritual needs of patients and loved ones.
• Counsel patients undergoing surgery, end‑of‑life situations, or traumatic events.
• Communicate respectfully across cultures and faith traditions.
• Coordinate visits from clergy and pastoral representatives.
• Support staff coping with patient loss and maintain compliance with university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum two years of relevant chaplaincy or spiritual care experience.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
