Full-Time Systems Librarian

About the role

The State of Georgia, through Atlanta Technical College, seeks a Full‑Time Systems Librarian to manage and enhance the college’s library automation environment. Reporting to the Director of Library & Media Services, you will support faculty, staff, and students on the main campus.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and operate the library’s automation system, creating and editing bibliographic records.
• Physically process all library materials and answer basic cataloging queries.
• Conduct information‑literacy and orientation classes for students.
• Apply metadata standards (MARC, RDA) and manage databases using SQL.
• Provide technical support for library software and authentication tools.
• Stay current with emerging technologies such as AI and linked data.
• Catalog books and other resources, recommend and process acquisitions, and maintain acquisition records.
• Compile usage and circulation reports, disseminate policy information, and maintain a manual of procedures.

Required profile

• Knowledge of Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress classification systems.
• Familiarity with bibliographies, card catalogs, indexes, guides, and encyclopedias.
• Strong oral and written communication, decision‑making, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to teach research and information‑literacy skills.
• Interpersonal skills for faculty liaison and student engagement.
• Capability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues affecting library services.
