Full-Time Medical Assistant – Doral Clinic

About the role

We are seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join the Doral Clinic of the University of Miami Health System. The MA will work under the direct supervision of physicians and nursing leadership to support patient care and clinic operations.

Key responsibilities

• Interview patients to obtain chief complaint, medication history and pertinent information.
• Measure and record vital signs and update electronic medical records.
• Prepare examination rooms before and after appointments, including sterilizing instruments.
• Assist providers during examinations by handing supplies, acting as chaperone, and performing procedures such as venipuncture, EKG, bladder scanning, and point-of-care testing.
• Provide basic first aid, simple dressing changes, ostomy care, and medication refills as ordered.
• Schedule appointments, coordinate tests, arrange admissions, and manage insurance authorizations.
• Respond to telephone and EMR messages, support emergency care, and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Ability to work under direct supervision of physicians and nursing staff.
• Strong communication skills for patient interaction and teamwork.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow sterile technique.
