Full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Bascom Palmer

About the role

The University of Miami’s UHealth Department of Anesthesia is seeking a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute team. The CRNA will deliver anesthesia services for a variety of medical and surgical procedures, working closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other clinicians.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-anesthesia patient assessments and document anesthesia notes.
• Review medical histories, determine appropriate anesthesia methods, and evaluate diagnostic tests such as X-rays and EKGs.
• Administer local, intravenous, spinal or other anesthetics and monitor dosage, patient vital signs, and airway status.
• Manage airway and pulmonary function using techniques including endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation and pharmacologic support.
• Respond to emergencies with airway management, fluid/drug administration and basic/advanced life support.
• Oversee patient recovery and provide immediate post-operative care.
• Develop anesthesia care plans and adhere to university policies and safety standards.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Valid State of Florida APRN license and CRNA certification.
• Minimum two years of relevant anesthesia experience.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

• Airway management and endotracheal intubation.
• Mechanical ventilation and respiratory therapy.
• Administration of local, intravenous and spinal anesthetics.
• Interpretation of radiographs and electrocardiograms.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certification.
