Full Stack Software Engineer – Fixed Duration

About the role
Lilly’s ADMET Intelligence group is seeking a full‑stack software engineer to enhance scientific workflow management applications. You will collaborate directly with laboratory scientists to translate research needs into robust, production‑ready software solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Develop new features and improve existing functionality for assay request handling, plate definitions, sample tracking, and results analysis.
- Maintain and extend integrations with internal and external APIs.
- Design, implement, and test PostgreSQL database schema changes and write efficient queries.
- Write unit and integration tests, ensuring high code coverage.
- Apply best practices for code quality, documentation, CI/CD pipelines, and architectural standards.
- Act as a liaison between discovery teams and IT/Cloud organizations, converting scientific intent into engineering specifications.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience building full‑stack Django applications in a life‑sciences or biotech R&D environment.
- Active GitHub profile with public Python contributions.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full‑time basis (no visa sponsorship).
Required skills
- Python programming.
- Django framework and Django REST Framework.
- PostgreSQL relational database design and query optimization.
- Git version control and GitHub collaboration.
- CI/CD pipeline implementation and Infrastructure‑as‑Code concepts.
- Unit testing and integration testing methodologies.
