Full Stack Developer (Angular/NodeJS)

About the role

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer to build and maintain a cloud‑based web dashboard that processes healthcare Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions. The role is fully remote and part of the Veterans Affairs (VA) department.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, support, and migrate a cloud‑based Web Dashboard application.
• Design and maintain RESTful APIs in Java and/or NodeJS to retrieve, transform, and serve EDI healthcare records.
• Integrate with internal platform APIs, EDI pipelines, and data services to deliver live and historical transaction data.
• Contribute to an Angular‑based front‑end, consuming APIs and building reusable components.
• Collaborate with C#/.Net and AWS data engineers to define API contracts and ensure reliable data delivery.
• Write clean, testable, well‑documented code; participate in code reviews.
• Perform unit and integration testing for back‑end services and API layers.
• Support deployment, monitoring, and performance tuning of services on AWS.
• Apply Agile best practices and use Git/GitHub for version control.

Required profile

• Proven experience with Java and/or NodeJS back‑end development and Angular front‑end UI.
• Understanding of structured healthcare data and EDI formats.
• Hands‑on experience building RESTful APIs that handle XML/JSON.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS or Azure) such as API Gateway, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or within a distributed team.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and tools like JIRA.
