Front End Supervisor - Grocery Store

About the role

Fresh Thyme Market, part of Meijer, is hiring a Front End Supervisor in Kirkwood. The supervisor oversees the efficient handling of customer sales transactions at the front registers, keeps proper control of cash, ensures customer satisfaction and safeguards company assets. The position requires following all procedural guidelines and reliable, consistent attendance.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure outstanding customer service through the checkout lanes and greet customers promptly
• Oversee the accurate and efficient operation of all cash registers and handle payments by cash, check, credit card, gift card or automatic debit
• Scan items, enter PLU or UPC manually, and display costs, tax and rebates on the register screen
• Maintain clean checkout areas and complete all point-of-sale transactions
• Review customer surveys and feedback, and provide product advice to customers
• Prepare, package and stock merchandise, and comply with price-change, food safety and order compliance rules
• Keep products properly priced, remove out-of-code items and ensure signage complies with ad sets
• Use the production planner and fresh dashboard, and promote a safe work environment

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years of related retail experience
• One year of management experience
• Prior experience in a natural foods industry is a plus
• Ability to communicate clearly, resolve conflicts, manage multiple tasks, analyze financial and statistical information, and mentor team members
• Successful completion of all required certifications

Required skills

• ServSafe certification
• Point-of-sale register operation
