Front-End Developer – Web Engineer Project Lead

About the role

The Department of Administration is looking for a senior Front-End Developer to lead web projects in Columbia, SC. You will work across the full Software Development Life Cycle, turning design mockups into functional, accessible websites.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and code websites using HTML, CSS, and client‑side scripting libraries.
• Participate in proposal and requirements meetings to architect complex solutions.
• Implement back‑end and front‑end functionality, primarily with PHP.
• Work with CMS platforms such as Drupal and WordPress, creating or modifying advanced modules.
• Maintain and convert existing PHP applications.
• Integrate websites with internal applications or third‑party platforms.
• Provide training to customer personnel of varying skill levels.
• Be on‑call for system emergencies, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required profile

• Senior‑level web developer with strong project planning abilities.
• Effective collaborator with creative teams and technical leadership experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for handling sensitive information.
• Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
