Food Service Worker – Georgia Regional Hospital

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Food Service Worker to join the team at Georgia Regional Hospital in Decatur. In this position you will prepare, heat, finish, and serve meals to patients, staff, and visitors while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, heat, and finish cooking food items according to recipes and therapeutic diet guidelines.
• Serve meals, take orders, and handle cash transactions in the cafeteria.
• Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware after each shift.
• Maintain inventory, replenish supplies, and store food properly to prevent spoilage.
• Conduct food supply requisitions and assist with sanitation and maintenance inspections.
• Observe and enforce safety, sanitation, and health standards at all times.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in a food‑service environment; hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to pass a state and national background check.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets is desirable.

Required skills

• Sanitation and safety compliance.
• Operation of manual and electric kitchen appliances.
