Food Service Coordinator & Café Chef (School) – Washington, DC

About the role

Red Rabbit is seeking a Food Service Coordinator/Café Chef to work on‑site at a school in Washington, DC. The role supports the Head Chef and a small team to ensure meals are prepared and served on time, with dignity, and meet nutritional and cultural standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals on schedule, ensuring portion compliance and a clean service line.
• Facilitate communication between kitchen staff and school partners, resolving operational conflicts.
• Maintain operational databases, perform accountability checks, and ensure data accuracy for meal compliance.
• Address day‑of concerns with schools, keeping the Head Chef and District Manager informed.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to solve same‑day operational issues and support other assigned duties.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in an operational or administrative role supporting cross‑functional teams.
• At least 1 year of customer‑facing experience (preferred).
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent follow‑through.
• Passion for improving school nutrition and commitment to social justice.
• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
