Food Safety Intern - Summer 2027

About the role

Meijer offers an 11-week summer internship program for Food Safety/Quality interns in Grand Rapids. The program challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business, with interaction with other interns and senior leaders. It covers the supply chain from procurement through manufacturing and product development, and includes final presentations to senior executives, an executive speaker series, professional development and networking events.

Key responsibilities

• Work on projects focused on key areas of the supply chain, from procurement to manufacturing and product development
• Learn about procurement and merchandising strategies, product development, manufacturing QA and measuring own-brand vendor quality standards
• Gain experience meeting and exceeding government standards for facility and product compliance
• Be exposed to other functions such as distribution, logistics, finance, engineering, store operations and merchandising

Required profile

• Progress toward a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Nutrition/Culinary Science or Engineering (Agricultural, Biotechnology, Chemical)
• Focus on results and customer focus, with strong communication and problem-solving skills

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
