Flight Termination Engineer Lead - Hypersonics

About the role

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a Flight Termination Engineer Lead for its Hypersonics line of business, based in Huntsville. The selected candidate will support the Common Hypersonic Glide Body (CHGB) program, the Army's top priority for long-range precision fires. The role is responsible for the flight termination system and leads the integrated product team.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the Responsible Engineer and IPT Lead for the Flight Termination System
• Lead technical reviews, failure investigations, supplier engagements and cross-functional task teams
• Assist in requirement decomposition
• Interface with the Range Commanders Council
• Conduct non-conformance and root cause corrective action investigations

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, or 12+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
• Or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of relevant experience
• Ability to read engineering drawings, electrical schematics, cable/wiring diagrams and work instructions to build complex assemblies and give feedback to program leadership
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with government customers, industry partners, test and manufacturing engineers

• Rapid integration and troubleshooting support for system-level integration
• Electronics integration, test and troubleshooting
• Environmental testing of avionics
• Writing qualification plans for RCC-319 and RCC-324 requirements
• Risk, issue and opportunity management
• Circuit design (analog, digital, power)
• Preferred: active DoD Secret clearance, manufacturing experience, instrumentation and test equipment knowledge, MIL-STD-810, ASME and IEEE standards, and prior missile or hypersonic program work

The pay range is $107,900 to $195,050.
