Fleet Maintenance Technician

About the role

The City of Geneva is seeking a skilled Fleet Maintenance Technician to keep a diverse municipal fleet operational. Working under the Fleet Supervisor, you will perform mechanical work that directly supports essential public services.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair municipal vehicles and equipment, including cars, trucks, emergency vehicles, and heavy equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and routine inspections.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and computerized vehicle systems using diagnostic equipment and service manuals.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, parts, labor, and vehicle service history.
• Coordinate with department personnel to prioritize repairs and minimize vehicle downtime.

Required profile

• High school diploma plus an associate's degree in Automotive and/or Diesel Technology.
• At least three years of experience in complex vehicle diagnosis and repair.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record; CDL or ability to obtain within one year.
• Residency within 16 miles of the City’s corporate boundaries.
