First Year Experience Instructor & Coordinator

About the role

The First Year Experience Instructor & Coordinator will lead classroom and online instruction for first‑year technical and occupational courses at Augusta Technical College, while managing the overall coordination of the First Year Experience program.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update lesson plans and course syllabi using college templates.
• Deliver theory and practical instruction in both classroom and virtual settings.
• Assess student progress, grade assignments, and report outcomes to the department head.
• Collect and analyze student learning data to drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate documentation, administrative reports, and compliance with college and state professional‑development requirements.
• Engage with industry partners and professional organizations to keep curriculum current.
• Support student advising, registration, and high‑risk student counseling.
• Participate in college events such as orientation, open house, and commencement.

Required profile

• Valid teaching credentials, licensure, or certifications required for the subject area.
• Demonstrated ability to create organized, outcome‑focused course materials.
• Experience evaluating student performance and adjusting instructional methods.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to student success.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for course delivery.
• Familiarity with Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) for curriculum standards.
• Ability to use online instruction platforms and digital classroom tools.
