Fire Protection Engineer (Remote/Hybrid/Onsite)

About the role

Amentum Nuclear Projects, a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy and many commercial nuclear companies, is looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to work with designers and engineers on the technical parts of projects within scope, budget and schedule. The work is done from a USA location supporting the Oak Ridge, TN Nuclear Center of Excellence and other sites, with some business travel.

Required profile

• BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Registered engineer in fire protection, or in a related discipline (mechanical or electrical) and willing to register in fire protection by exam
• At least 10 years of experience in industrial fire protection and life safety, including NFPA suppression and alarm standards, DOE/DOD API, ICC FM Global Data Sheets, special hazards (electric generating plants, nuclear facilities, battery energy storage, flammable liquids, LNG/LPG, explosions), existing facility evaluations, fire hazard analysis, fire modeling, life safety (NFPA, IBC/IFC, OSHA), performance-based design and hydraulic analysis
• Ability to explain complex ideas clearly to non-fire professionals, write clearly and engage clients, authorities and management
• Senior and mid-level managerial skills: developing engineering deliverables, scope of work, budget (engineering hours) and schedule, familiarity with Earned Value Measurement System (EVMS)
• U.S. citizenship, valid driver's license, ability to pass a pre-employment drug and background check, and willingness to work in the office when needed

• Desirable: AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD (and HydraCalc), HASS, hydraulic analysis software
