Financial Controller

About the role

La Tienda, a leading e‑commerce destination for authentic Spanish gourmet food and cookware, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its leadership team. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will oversee accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain strong internal controls in a fast‑growing, entrepreneurial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes.
• Perform and review bank and corporate credit‑card reconciliations.
• Oversee sales‑tax filings and ensure compliance across jurisdictions.
• Manage the accounts payable function, guaranteeing timely vendor invoice processing.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and supporting schedules.
• Assist with wholesale and B2B pricing reviews through financial analysis.
• Develop, document, and enforce accounting policies and internal controls.
• Support annual tax filings and coordinate with external tax advisors.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on budgeting, financial planning, and strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 10+ years of progressive corporate accounting or finance experience.
• Minimum 5 years in roles such as Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or VP of Finance.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Proven experience managing month‑end close processes.
• Demonstrated expertise in accounts payable, reconciliations, and sales‑tax compliance.
