Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for a mid‑to‑large apparel company. Reporting directly to the CFO, this hands‑on leader acts as a strategic business partner, strengthening financial reporting, inventory controls and cross‑functional efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes across multiple divisions, delivering accurate consolidated financials on schedule.
• Oversee A/R, A/P and general accounting teams, set priorities, monitor workloads and ensure cross‑training.
• Maintain and enforce internal controls, segregation of duties and approval workflows.
• Manage cash flow, banking transactions and funding activities.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations and intercompany eliminations.
• Serve as primary contact for external auditors, coordinate schedules and resolve findings.
• Identify and implement process improvements to shorten close cycles and improve data accuracy.
• Collaborate with FP&A to align actual results with forecasts and explain variances.
• Coordinate with peer Controllers to ensure consistency across the AMG Group.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of accounting experience, preferably in apparel or wholesale.
• 3‑5 years of management experience leading small finance teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Proven ability to diagnose issues quickly, implement pragmatic solutions and work under tight deadlines.
• Willingness to work on‑site at least three days per week.
