Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Financial Controller to lead accounting operations for a fast‑growing, private‑equity‑backed commercial construction platform. The role will own the full accounting function, build rigorous construction‑specific controls and support the company’s aggressive M&A roll‑up strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) schedules and ensure accurate percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition.
• Partner with operations to audit project costs, track labor burden and protect profit margins through detailed job costing.
• Oversee corporate cash flow, banking relationships and bonding compliance.
• Direct daily AP, AR, payroll and general ledger activities and implement a fast month‑end close.
• Establish and enforce internal control policies across all operating units.
• Prepare monthly board decks, KPI analyses and serve as primary accounting contact for PE sponsors.
• Lead year‑end audits and multi‑entity tax compliance across expanding jurisdictions.
• Drive migration to a unified construction ERP and integrate newly acquired entities using standard operating playbooks.

Required profile

• 7+ years progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years as a Controller or Assistant Controller in commercial construction.
• Experience working for a private‑equity‑backed organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CCIFP highly preferred.
• “Player‑coach” mindset – comfortable diving into numbers and scaling a team as the business grows.
