Financial Controller – Development Division

About the role

The Financial Controller will join the Development Division of a leading residential real‑estate brokerage, overseeing the full financial lifecycle of high‑end development projects. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the role ensures accurate accounting, compliance, and financial insight across multiple projects and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations and financial statements prepared by the accounting team.
• Ensure GAAP compliance across entities, cost centers and reporting structures.
• Manage the construction draw cycle, reconciling advance balances against budgets and lending schedules.
• Apply ASC 606 guidance for revenue recognition based on project percentage‑of‑completion.
• Maintain detailed project ledgers, workpapers and reconciliations.
• Design, implement and monitor internal controls and accounting policies.
• Coordinate with HR, Operations, Facilities, external auditors and tax advisors.

Required profile

• Strong background in accounting or finance, preferably within real‑estate development or construction.
• Deep knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue standards.
• Experience handling multi‑project, multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Ability to lead accounting staff and act as escalation point for complex issues.
