Financial Controller – Development Division

About the role

The Financial Controller for the Development Division will lead accounting operations for a high‑end residential real‑estate brokerage that also manages ground‑up development projects. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the role ensures accurate financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance across multiple projects and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Maintain GAAP compliance for all entities, cost centers, and reporting structures.
• Manage the full construction draw cycle, including advance reconciliation, lien waivers, and cost completion reports.
• Apply ASC 606 guidance for revenue recognition based on project percentage‑of‑completion and related criteria.
• Design, implement, and monitor internal controls and accounting policies.
• Coordinate with HR, Payroll, Operations, Facilities, external auditors, and tax advisors to ensure consistency and scalability of financial processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience overseeing accounting operations in a multi‑project environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
• Experience with construction draws, advances, and project‑level financial reporting.
• Ability to serve as escalation point for complex accounting issues.
