Financial Controller – Construction Accounting

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Financial Controller to lead the accounting function for multiple construction projects in Miami. The role combines deep operational involvement with strategic financial planning to support the company’s rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the month‑end close process and deliver timely, accurate financial reports.
• Oversee job‑cost and percentage‑of‑completion accounting across all projects.
• Prepare, review and analyse financial statements for senior leadership.
• Record journal entries, accruals, cost allocations and project billings.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and provide financial insights to operational teams.
• Maintain general‑ledger accounts, perform reconciliations and monitor project profitability.
• Assist with audit preparation and tax support as needed.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of job costing and percentage‑of‑completion accounting.
• Experience leading month‑end close and preparing financial statements.
• Proven budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis abilities.
• CPA designation preferred.
• Demonstrated career stability and progressive growth.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Sage or a comparable ERP system.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
