About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a motivated intern to support its Financial Capabilities program in New Jersey. This unpaid position offers hands‑on experience in financial literacy education for refugees and immigrants, helping participants become self‑sufficient.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑on‑one financial coaching and counseling to program participants.
- Conduct budgeting exercises and financial surveys with clients.
- Track client notes and progress using spreadsheets and the ETO software platform.
- Facilitate monthly financial literacy workshops for all IRC clients.
- Accompany clients to bank appointments and assist them in navigating U.S. financial institutions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to IRC policies.
Required profile
- U.S. citizen or holder of valid U.S. work authorization.
- Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program or graduated within the last two years.
- Available to work on‑site in New Jersey and commit to the internship schedule.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ETO software for case management.
