Financial Accountant

About the role

The LSU System Office is seeking a Financial Accountant to join the Business Office under the Chief Financial Officer. Reporting to the Business Manager, the role supports the compilation, preparation, review, and submission of accounting transactions and reports for the entire LSU System. The position requires a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare governmental and institutional reports, including fiscal note requests, quarterly receivable & bad debt reports, annual write‑off reports, investment reports, semi‑annual financial reports, affiliated entities reports, and ad‑hoc requests.
• Execute departmental accounting tasks in the Workday ERP system such as check deposits, journal entries, procurement requisitions, and invoice processing while monitoring and reconciling ledgers for system and foundation accounts.
• Assist with budget preparation by reviewing, coordinating, and compiling budget request forms from all LSU campuses for submission to the Board of Regents and the Louisiana Office of Planning and Budget.
• Serve as Asset Custodian for the Office of the President and Health Affairs, handling supply orders and vendor payments for departmental operations and events.
• Support special projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• At least one year of relevant experience in higher‑education finance or a comparable environment.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism.

Required skills

• Workday ERP system proficiency.
• General ERP and accounting software experience.
