Finance & Budgeting Intern – UNMAS Budget & Reporting

About the role

The Finance and Budgeting Intern will support the Budget, Financial Management and Reporting Section of UNMAS within the Department of Peace Operations in New York. Working under the Finance and Budget Officer, the intern will assist in preparing financial reports, managing data and providing administrative support for donor reporting and internal meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Research, compile, draft and edit information for financial reports and statements.
• Develop process maps to ensure project continuity.
• File and archive documents in hard copy and SharePoint.
• Create and organise data in Microsoft Excel for donor reports.
• Draft minutes, talking points and routine correspondence for budget meetings.
• Maintain tasking sheets and priority logs for finance resource mobilisation.
• Support preparation of presentations, background documents and training materials.
• Provide administrative assistance to the Chief of Section and finance officers.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a university programme in finance, economics, accounting or related field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
