Field Technician - FAA Installations

About the role

Leidos is seeking a Field Technician to provide on-site customer (FAA) installations, upgrades and modifications for existing and new hardware, software, network configurations and system initiatives across the area of responsibility. The position is based in the Chesapeake, VA office, with near-continuous travel (about 75%-90% of the time) throughout the continental United States.

Key responsibilities

• Perform installation functions for premises cabling systems (CAT5, CAT6 and fiber optic) supporting the FAA Air Traffic Control Systems.
• Install equipment such as processors, switches, routers and seismic anchoring systems.
• Provide roving site support and help develop and ensure adherence to area-wide procedural and policy changes.
• Carry out routine installations, upgrades and modifications, resolving problems without clearly prescribed solutions and adjusting work methods as needed.
• Communicate with colleagues and customers within the project area.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent combined education and technical training equivalent to a technical associate's degree, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience with premise cabling, specifically CAT5 and CAT6 with RJ45 connectors.
• Able to obtain and maintain an FAA public trust background check and a corporate travel card.
• Valid driver's license and ability to lift and carry 40 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders, work in dim lighting and follow installation instructions precisely.
• Desired: FAA site installation experience and ATMC.

Pay range: $40,300 - $72,850.
