About the role
We are seeking a Field Service Technician II to support senior technicians in operating and maintaining utility‑scale solar facilities. The role focuses on preventative and corrective maintenance of on‑site assets such as solar panels, trackers, and power inverters, ensuring reliable energy production.
Key responsibilities
- Assist senior Field Service Technicians with daily operations and maintenance of solar sites.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on AC and DC power systems, solar panels, trackers, and inverters.
- Troubleshoot low‑voltage DC and low/medium‑voltage AC power systems.
- Utilize hand tools and a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to log work.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and consumables.
- Follow lock‑out‑tag‑out (LOTO) procedures and site safety plans.
- Interface with project owners, equipment manufacturers, and subcontractors, representing RES professionally.
- Operate company vehicles in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in a related technical field preferred.
- OSHA 10/30 certification preferred; FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot certification preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of related maintenance experience.
- Ability to follow direction from senior personnel and set a positive example for junior technicians.
- Willingness to travel domestically 5‑15 % of the time.
Required skills
- Troubleshooting low‑voltage DC power systems.
- Troubleshooting low‑ and medium‑voltage AC power systems.
- Preventative maintenance on AC and DC power systems.
- Proficient use of hand tools and electrical testing equipment (multimeter, IR camera).
- Experience with CMMS and inventory management.
- Lock‑out‑tag‑out (LOTO) procedures.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of high‑voltage, low‑voltage, and medium‑voltage electrical power systems.
- Understanding of circuit theory, OSHA regulations, and job hazard analysis creation.
- Operation of equipment such as skid‑steer and forklift.
- Familiarity with ANSI/NETA/MTSSCADA systems.
