Field Operator – Heavy Machinery & Vehicle Operator

About the role

We are seeking a Field Operator to join ConeTec’s geotechnical site investigation team in Salt Lake City, UT. The role involves operating heavy‑machinery and commercial vehicles to conduct drilling, CPT and other in‑situ testing while ensuring safety and equipment upkeep.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and maintain drilling, CPT and specialized geotechnical equipment following company procedures.
• Drive Class A or Class B commercial vehicles to mobilize and demobilize rigs in remote or hard‑to‑access locations.
• Perform routine inspections, maintenance and minor repairs on all equipment.
• Collect, log and submit field data, samples, notes and photographs to the data team.
• Assist engineers and technicians with project tasks and provide on‑site support.
• Adhere to ConeTec’s safety standards and report any incidents or near‑misses.

Required profile

• Valid Class A or Class B CDL with clean driving record.
• Experience operating heavy machinery or drilling equipment in field environments.
• Ability to travel frequently, staying on‑site for 7‑14 days or longer as project demands.
• Strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork.
• Willingness to learn and obtain additional certifications.
