Field Account Representative - Public Sector, San Diego

About the role

HD Supply is hiring a Field Account Representative for its Public Sector division in the San Diego North County territory. This is an in-person, on-the-ground field sales role covering an established portfolio of customers, maintaining and growing Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) sales while seeking new business. The position includes consistent day travel with infrequent overnight travel, a competitive base salary with a monthly sales incentive, and a laptop, tablet and cell phone provided.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect new accounts, retain existing ones and expand opportunities with current customers to meet yearly sales goals.
• Build and maintain strong sales relationships with key decision makers and influencers at all levels of organizations.
• Manage sales volume with existing customers while prospecting and acquiring new ones.
• Develop plans to expand business presence in the assigned area and share market and competitor insights with the organization.
• Collaborate with leadership on market trends and customer needs to shape sales strategy.
• Attend monthly association meetings, engage in local trade shows and represent the company in regional or national activities.

Required profile

• 3+ years of B2B field sales experience; large volume of product lines experience preferred.
• Knowledge of facilities products such as hardware, electrical, lighting, plumbing, janitorial and HVAC.
• Experience with consultative and solution selling, and a proven record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
• Ability to operate a personal vehicle, used more than 20% of the average work week; an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) is required.
• Typically a bachelor's degree in a related field, or a master's degree with slightly less experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel and Salesforce or a similar CRM.
• Data analysis skills, including resolving inconsistencies in complex research data.
