FedNow Software Engineer

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) team. You will work on the FedNow instant payment service, a mission‑critical, 24x7 real‑time gross settlement platform that transforms the U.S. payments landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement complex backend solutions that comply with FedNow and Federal Reserve standards.
• Build and maintain Java application components and integrate them with other software services.
• Develop cloud‑based services, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.
• Participate in strategic and tactical planning for software architecture and development lifecycle improvements.
• Perform testing, debugging, and documentation of all deliverables.

Required profile

• Advanced technical expertise in applications systems analysis and programming.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong appetite for learning and passion for emerging technologies.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
