Facility Maintenance Worker

About the role

The Facility Maintenance Worker ensures the venue is functional before, during and after events. The role covers painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, mechanical and electrical repairs, snow removal and construction tasks, as well as the maintenance and repair of building equipment and assigned maintenance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repairs and regular preventive maintenance, including painting, elevator repair, bathroom upkeep, air-conditioning and heating, electrical and plumbing work.
• Inspect systems to detect malfunctions and coordinate with outside vendors when needed.
• Repair equipment such as washrooms, fixtures, pumps, lighting and AC/DC drives.
• Maintain an organized shop system for tools, materials and equipment, and keep maintenance logs and work orders accurate.
• Help buy work materials and assist other departments with event setup, seat and riser maintenance and housekeeping.
• Respond to emergencies such as power outages and water leaks.
• Follow ASM Global safety policies and OSHA guidelines.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• More than 2 years of related work experience.
• Ability to read, listen and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Flexible schedule, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and some holidays.
• Able to work indoors and outdoors, with exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise and adverse conditions.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Use of tools, equipment and methods of trades involved in facility operations.
• Reading blueprints, sketches and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Ability to prioritize, solve problems quickly and meet tight deadlines.
• Preferred: trade school certification.
