Facility Maintenance Technician III (3rd Shift)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a 3rd shift Facility Maintenance Technician III for its facility operations and maintenance team in Decatur, IL. Typical hours are 10 pm to 6:30 am, which may vary with business demand, and overtime and weekend hours may be scheduled. The role involves varied and complex tasks performed under general supervision, relying on experience and judgment.

Key responsibilities

• Review service requests, determine the nature of the problem and recommend solutions
• Serve as a resource for resolving complex problems and coordinate work with outside contractors
• Ensure code and building standards are met
• Perform repairs, modifications and preventative maintenance on buildings, equipment, fixtures and systems
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain facility systems, following dispatched service or daily/weekly schedules
• Document work as needed and assist in moving furniture, materials and equipment
• Work safely and oversee subcontractor activities as directed

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 years of experience in an area of specialization
• Ability to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
• Valid driver's license may be required; no sponsorship for U.S. work authorization
• Overtime, holidays, weekends and alternative schedules; ability to obtain a security access badge at the client site

Preferred qualifications

• Associate's degree in industrial technology or certificate in industrial electrical courses
• Licensed electrician experience
• Knowledge of lighting, lighting control and commercial systems, NEC, wiring and transformer sizing, conduit fill
• Experience installing rigid conduit and EMT up to 3 inches and troubleshooting 3-phase motors up to 60 hp
• CMMS or maintenance management system experience (e.g., Maximo, MP2)
• NFPA-70E training
