Extra Help Assistant II – Research Support

About the role

The Extra Help Assistant II will support the COSMOS Research Center in developing socio‑computational models that examine cyber campaigns on social media. This on‑campus position works closely with a multidisciplinary research team to advance understanding of group dynamics, activation, and collective action in online environments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in building and testing socio‑computational models of social media behavior.
• Develop predictive models to identify deviant socio‑technical activities across platforms.
• Create usable software tools to detect key actors and groups coordinating cyber campaigns.
• Collaborate with faculty and graduate researchers to analyze data and interpret results.
• Document methodologies and contribute to research publications.

Required profile

• Current enrollment or recent graduate in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Sociology, Communication).
• Strong analytical mindset with interest in social media dynamics and cyber behavior.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a research team.
