Executive Director, Information Technology

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a full‑time Executive Director of Information Technology to lead its Student Information Systems function in Coral Gables, Florida. This senior leader will partner with academic and administrative stakeholders to streamline processes, remove friction points, and enhance the overall student experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans that align IT services with the university’s mission of excellence.
• Analyze service efficiency and financial productivity using the university technology platform, recommending operational improvements.
• Manage labor budgets, productivity analyses, and ongoing performance‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with finance and leadership to define technology requirements for major capital expenditures.
• Oversee IT support services, growth metrics, human‑resource and financial functions for the university and its affiliates.
• Inform senior leadership of technology barriers, advancements, opportunities, and resource needs.
• Direct development and maintenance of IT strategic planning, workforce allocation, and forward‑looking vision.
• Lead enterprise‑wide IT projects to ensure efficient, timely delivery.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, internal controls, and university policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with academic leaders, student accounts, enrollment management, advising, and financial aid teams.
• Demonstrated ability to develop competitive strategic plans and manage large‑scale budgets.
• Strong background in productivity management, risk assessment, and internal control oversight.
• Experience coordinating enterprise‑wide IT projects and capital‑expenditure planning.
