Excel Expert – AI Trainer (Remote Contract)

About the role

Mercor is seeking an Excel Expert to act as an AI Trainer, helping research teams improve model performance on Excel‑based tasks within the IT and enterprise software domain. This remote contract position offers flexible hours and competitive compensation.

Key responsibilities

• Guide research teams to close knowledge gaps and enhance AI model performance on Excel tasks.
• Design realistic, domain‑relevant Excel tasks drawn from professional experience.
• Write accurate, well‑structured solutions and evaluate task submissions.
• Provide clear, written feedback on tasks and solutions.
• Collaborate with other subject‑matter experts to ensure consistency and accuracy of training data.

Required profile

• Advanced, professional‑level expertise in Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, data modeling, dashboards, Power Query, Power Pivot, and VBA/macros.
• Hands‑on experience applying Excel within the IT/Enterprise Software domain.
• Demonstrated career progression in the field.
• Ability to commit at least 20 hours per week on weekdays.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Based in the United States.
