EWIS Harness Design Engineer I

About the role

Shield AI, a defense-tech company developing aircraft and autonomy software, is looking for a Harness Design Engineer to design complex wire harnesses and cable assemblies for its X-BAT autonomous UAV platform and supporting ground equipment. This is a high-impact, high-ownership role covering the harness from concept through deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design wire harnesses and cable assemblies for X-BAT and supporting ground equipment
• Work with electrical engineering to define connector selection, current and voltage requirements, shielding and other design aspects
• Perform electrical, mechanical and environmental analysis for harness reliability
• Prototype and test harnesses in dynamic, mission-critical environments
• Work with avionics, systems, supply chain and manufacturing teams on integration
• Lead technicians in building, testing and debugging parts of the EWIS system

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• 0-2 years of experience with wire harness designs for automotive, aerospace or robotics; professional, personal or club experience is acceptable
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced, cross-functional teams
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance desired

Required skills

• 3D CAD modeling tools such as NX or CATIA
• Knowledge of GD&T best practices, tolerance stack-ups and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
• Electrical schematics and connector selection
• Hands-on experience with harness fabrication or testing
